When the display is disconnected, the issue goes away almost immediately. The weird thing is the laptop is really cold to the touch, and the temperature sensors of the CPU and GPU are all in the very acceptable 40 to 60 degrees celcius range. Both when connected via HDMI as DVI as VGA.

I tried 4 displays, and 4 different dongles, all seem to have the issue.

The "kernel_task" job jumps to >400% cpu load in order to protect the cpu from overheating, fans go to full speed, and I can barely get any work done until I disconnect the display.Sometimes it happens a few minutes after connecting the display(s), sometimes I can get a few hours of work done before it goes haywire.

in 10-15 will drop cpu to 0.85Ghz and mac to laggy.īut if I running adobe primier pro, photoshop, illustrator with lot of layers, or watching offline video on quicktime everything run smoothly.

When I watching web video ( youtube, netflix, disney etc) in every browser (safari, chrome, firefox) and in 10-15 menit.boom cpu drop to 0.8Ghz and mac to be unusable, everything to be lag, keyboard, mouse, close application.Ĭpu thermal level : 250, reach cpu/gpu Plimit.Įven I only watch in single tab in one browser no other app running. my IMAC 2017 (18.3) and macbook pro 2015 got problem since 2-3 month ago. I really don't know what to do anymore, its very frustrating considering that this Macbook is only 2 years old and cost around 3000$ĭoes anyone have an idea how i could fix this?ĬPU drop to 0.8Gz when Watching web video. When i brought my machine to apple they just replaced the thermal paste (which didn't help at all) and said there is no problem with it. The macbook is on a stand and has enough room around it to get rid of heat. It happens with and without external monitor attached, but without the external monitor it is not as bad. Sometimes it even happens with just having adobe bridge open or watching youtube videos on an external 4k monitor. But even after temperatures are back down to around 60° it wont recover somehow. Whenever i put it under load, for example video editing, photo editing, the CPU throttles down to 0.8ghz which makes it unusable for such work.įirst the CPU heats up to around 99° and then starts to throttle, which is normal. I have a problem with my 2019 15" Macbook Pro(i9 2.3ghz, 512gb ssd, 32gb ram, Radeon Pro 560X).
